Pulp & Paper (VPP) is a big part of what we do at Visy. Designed to world-class standards and adopting sustainability objectives in all parts of its operations, each year, we make approximately 1.5 million tonnes of paper. We have eight paper machines across Australia, which make recycled corrugated and kraft paper for the packaging and building industries.
As the Senior Plant Accountant for Visy Paper NSW (2 Paper Mills), you will provide finance, commercial and management support. You'll play a pivotal role in continuous monitoring & reporting of paper mill’s financial position against budget and standard.
The role reporting to the Recycled Mills National Finance Manager and based at our site at Smithfield, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate & timely delivery of information, reports & financial models to management on demand & within the required timeframes. You will have a management accountant reporting to you.
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to lead and manage plant accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Develop and maintain effective internal controls and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Provide financial guidance and support to plant management, influencing strategic decision-making. Oversee month-end close processes and preparation of financial statements. Continuous audit of systems, ledgers, processes and automation of accounting tools.
To be considered you must have Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is mandatory. CA/ CPA preferred (or working & planning towards obtaining). Solid experience in finance leadership role within a manufacturing environment is desired.
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, financial analysis, and budget management. Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills; experience with SAP is a plus. Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
Analytical mindset with a keen attention to detail. Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing challenges. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
