About the role we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance Controller to join our team in capacity as Senior Finance Manager for the New Zealand business. Reporting to the CFO Australia and NZ (based in Melbourne), this is a critical role that will play a key part in driving the financial success of our business with a strong governance remit. This role sits as part of the NZ Leadership team with matrix reporting into the Managing Director NZ.

You will be responsible for the management and optimisation of various key business areas, including revenue, Marketing & Sales Costs: Analysing and optimizing spend across these areas to partner the Sales & Marketing Directors to maximize profitability and meet sales objectives.

Inventory management ensuring efficient inventory levels and minimizing waste through effective forecasting and control. Company cars managing the company car fleet, including lease pricing and cost optimisation.

Clean Car Compliance: Overseeing compliance with the Clean Car Discount scheme including forecasting and strategic planning to optimise outcome. Reporting: Providing timely and accurate financial reporting to management, including monthly profit forecasts, annual statutory accounts, and ad hoc business case studies. Leadership: As a Company Director of Ford New Zealand, you will play a key role on the NZ Leadership Team and governance role across the business including the Ford Pension Fund.

Key responsibilities financial Planning,  Analysis & Reporting: Develop and manage the monthly forecast and annual Business Plan and Budget, including forecasting and analysis. Partner with operational teams (Marketing, Sales, FCSD, Parts, Procurement) to develop pricing strategies and optimize marketing programs. Oversee the preparation and filing of annual statutory accounts.

Cost Management & Optimization: Oversee the management and optimization of costs across revenue, marketing & sales, inventory and company cars. Governance & Controls: Lead the implementation and maintenance of robust financial controls, working closely with the regional Internal Control team and local analyst.

Business Case Development & Analysis: Lead ad hoc business case studies across the business, providing financial insights and recommendations. Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including operational teams, finance teams across international markets, external auditors and partners.

Leadership & Team Management: Lead a team of finance professionals (across New Zealand and India), providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities. This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to motivate and inspire your team, and a proven track record of building high-performing teams.

Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate closely with key operational groups (Marketing, Sales, FCSD, Parts, Procurement) to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive profitability and growth influence & Communication: As a key decision-maker within the business, you will need to effectively communicate financial insights and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders. You will also need to be able to influence decision-making across the organization

You will also take on the position of Finance Director for the Ford New Zealand business. Be a key member of the senior management team, contributing to strategic decision-making. Represent Ford New Zealand at external events and with key stakeholders, including dealer network, government agencies, financial institutions, and industry associations. Collaborate with regional and global finance teams to ensure alignment with overall corporate objectives.

Qualifications & experience bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable. Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior finance role, ideally within the automotive industry. Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.

Strong understanding of cost management principles and best practices. Experience with inventory management and control. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across different departments and levels of seniority.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Experience in leading and developing a team, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management. Proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and effectively communicate financial information.
