Confluence Water, A Ventia, Downer and Jacobs joint venture, is one of three consortia delivering services under Sydney Water’s Partnering for Success program. Confluence Water delivers design, construction, maintenance and facilities management services in Sydney Water’s North region, which stretches from Sydney Harbour to the Hawkesbury River and includes the Hills Shire.

Due to a planned expansion of the capital works phase of the program we have an exciting opportunity for a new Senior Environment and Sustainability Advisor to join our high performing and progressive Environment and Sustainability Team. Our projects are varied and do involve high environmental risk profile projects – for example construction work within National Parks. The primary role of the Environment and Sustainability Team is supporting our construction and maintenance team across the northern region of Sydney by providing advice and technical expertise in all areas of environmental management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Day-to-day management of all projects environmental aspects including:

Prepare and implement Construction Environmental Management Plans, sub-plans and other planning documentation.
Implement and manage consultative processes in the workplace relating to the environment throughout all stages of project delivery.
Be an integral support function to the onsite teams by conducting ongoing risk management processes, hazard identification and performing required environmental inspections.
Educate delivery teams by delivering toolbox meetings and developing, coordination and delivery of training programs.
Review and update risk registers.
ABOUT YOU

Relevant Tertiary degree (preference for post graduate qualifications) in the fields of environmental engineering, environmental science, statutory or strategic planning, environmental management, or related discipline.
At least 5 years environmental management experience, with extensive experience in the preparation and implementation of environmental management systems and plans.
Strong experience of day-to-day management of all on-site environmental aspects including field testing, site inspections, and any monitoring requirements within their designated areas.
A good understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation relating to environmental planning and approvals, environmental licensing and/or site environmental management.
Experience in the water/wastewater industry is advantageous.
