The Senior Digital Product Designer is a key role within the Digital Product Design team, responsible for driving the creation of exceptional digital experiences that align with HCF's commitment to a Digital First Enterprise. This position combines hands-on design expertise with leadership responsibilities, influencing and guiding team members and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of intuitive and innovative member experiences across HCF’s digital platforms.
Senior Product Designer - Permanent
At HCF, we’re Australia’s largest not-for-profit health fund, committed to making healthcare more accessible and meaningful for our members. We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Digital Enterprise team, someone passionate about design systems, human-centred design, and driving design excellence at scale.
This role offers a unique opportunity to take a ‘clean slate’ approach to our design system. You’ll lead the setup, define the ways of working, and have the creative freedom to shape how design scales across HCF. You’ll also mentor designers, contribute to design team rituals, and play a central role in embedding strong design practices across the business.
What you’ll do
Lead complex design initiatives – deliver high-visibility digital products that simplify complexity and create intuitive, accessible member experiences.
Own and evolve our design system – document, create, and manage components, shaping how design scales across the organisation.
Collaborate across the business – partner with Brand, Content, Legal, Risk, Product, Delivery, and developers to ensure feasibility and quality implementation.
Champion design – advocate for the value of human-centred design, develop design principles, and embed best practice design across HCF.
Mentor and support others – help grow the capability of our design team through guidance, knowledge sharing, and feedback.
Embed accessibility – ensure designs are inclusive and comply with WCAG standards.
Work Agile – contribute to sprint planning and iterative delivery to bring designs to life quickly and effectively.
What we’re looking for
Essential
Significant experience in UX/UI design across web and mobile platforms, with deep expertise in human-centred design.
Proven ability to simplify complex processes into intuitive user journeys.
Strong proficiency in Figma and other design tools (Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite).
Experience working in Agile environments.
Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards.
Excellent communication and influencing skills—you can advocate for design and align diverse stakeholders.
A bias for action—you move ideas forward, encourage momentum, and drive outcomes.
Desirable
Experience in healthcare, insurance, or another regulated industry.
Strong user research skills, including usability testing, interviews, A/B testing, and journey mapping.
