Senior Cook or Chef St John of God Hauora Trust location Canterbury.

A casual vacancy is available in our kitchen at St John of God Halswell for a Senior Cook/Chef.  With free on-site parking and the possibility of a job share this is a rewarding job opportunity with a not for profit, community-based organisation.

St John of God Halswell is a leading Hospital-level care residence based in the heart of Halswell.  We are a Values based organisation that cares and supports people aged between 16 and 65 with physical and/or neurological disabilities.

Our modern commercial kitchen and efficient food services team provides three meals per day for over 60 residents who have varying dietary and food texture requirements. The successful applicant is required to have a minimum experience of 2 to 3 years as a Cook/Chef, with an obvious advantage if you have worked in the Healthcare or hospitality/catering industry.

Ideally you will be able to produce a Food Handling and Hygiene Certificate and be familiar with menus prescribed by a dietician and have a sound knowledge of Dysphagia and modified diets. Good communication and leadership skills together with a positive attitude are key for the efficiency of the kitchen team. This is a casual position with the possibility of a part-time contract (three days per week) in the coming months.

Desired Skills and Experience minimum of 2 years working in a commercial kitchen, comfortable with leading the food services team. Food handling and Hygiene Certification. Familiar with modified diets and Dysphagia. Minimum of 2 Referees from a similar working environment. Available to work between 6am and 7pm including weekend.  (No late-nights).
