Our Opportunity:
We are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst with advanced Tableau expertise to lead the creation of high-impact dashboards and data visualisations that drive strategic decision-making across the organisation. This role is dedicated to building scalable, interactive, and insight-rich reporting solutions using Tableau.
As a senior member of the Analytics and Reporting team within Group Technology, you will collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and compelling visual narratives — with Tableau as your primary visual analytics platform. Drawing on your strong expertise in the full data lifecycle, data transformation, and dashboard development, you will play a key role in driving data-informed decisions and identifying opportunities for ongoing optimisation and business growth.
Your key responsibility will be to lead and support data, reporting, analytics, and insights initiatives across Australian Unity’s business platforms, including Home Health, Private Health Insurance (PHI), and Wealth & Capital Markets (W&CM). This includes extracting, transforming, and analysing data from multiple sources to produce meaningful insights that inform critical business decisions.
The role will support projects and initiatives across the three business platforms as well as regular and ongoing BAU data and reporting requirements with emphasis on:
Business Partnering: Partner with stakeholders across Home Health, PHI, and W&CM to understand business challenges, uncover opportunities, and shape reporting solutions. Present insights and recommendations through clear, accessible Tableau dashboards and presentations tailored to all levels of the organisation.
Reporting and Dashboard Development: Design, build, and maintain interactive, user-friendly dashboards in Tableau. Ensure visualisations are accurate, intuitive, and aligned with stakeholder needs and business goals.
Data Analysis and Insight Generation: Gather, prepare, and analyse data for segmentation, modelling, and reporting. Translate data into actionable insights that support strategic and operational decisions.
Solution Translation: Extract, transform, and interpret data from multiple sources to develop Tableau-based reporting solutions. Present insights in compelling visual formats that inform and influence business outcomes.
Promoting Data-Driven Culture: Advocate for the use of Tableau and data-informed decision-making across the organisation. Build tactical data assets to accelerate dashboard development and promote best practices in data visualisation.
Reports Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve dashboard performance, streamline reporting processes, and enhance user experience. Provide guidance to peers and stakeholders to uphold Tableau best practices.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with Data Operations and Data Engineering teams to influence the design of semantic data models that support scalable and efficient Tableau reporting.
Mentoring and Guidance: Provide support and knowledge sharing to help junior colleagues develop their Tableau skills and grow their reporting and analytical capabilities.
Integrate Tableau AI Capabilities: Lead the adoption and integration of new Tableau AI features (e.g. Einstein Copilot, Tableau Pulse, smart analytics, natural language queries) to enhance dashboard interactivity, automate insights, and drive smarter decision-making.
Actively driving best-practice: Ability to advise, influence and implement best-practice BI & Reporting processes, particularly as it relates to Tableau (including providing requirements of a new target state architecture to ensure optimal performance and capability from Tableau)
About You:
Bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
Demonstrate 5+ years of hands-on experience in the business intelligence and analytics field.
Proven expertise in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server/Cloud, including dashboard optimisation and data storytelling.
