We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Commercial and Sectors team as Sector Engagement Lead which is responsible for actively developing relationships and strategies to proactively grow the use and range of standards solutions across the wider economy.  The Sector Engagement Lead role is responsible for both the development of strategy and implementing the strategy through face to face engagement activity.

What you will be doing this role has the primary purpose to develop strong relationships, identifying opportunities and finding viable and innovative standards solutions and services to meet current and future needs of our customers and stakeholders. This will involve identifying key sectors and stakeholders where standards can play a greater role and effective business development with regulators and industry bodies.

Key responsibilities include identifying key sectors where standards can play a key enabling role to grow value for New Zealand by facilitating trade and business and protecting the health, safety and well-being of New Zealanders. Strategic engagement activity to build strong effective relationships in order to identify and develop new standard services, products and distribution channels.

Facilitating discussions between industry and regulators to support mutually beneficial outcomes. Developing a pipeline / programme of work across all areas of Standards New Zealand business, including standards development and distribution for the identified sectors. Working across MBIE to collaborate with other teams to identify mutually beneficial opportunities and leverage sector relationships. Representing Standards New Zealand positively and articulating Standards New Zealand's value proposition strongly.

Ideally, you will have a range of skills that will include proven experience in relationship management, sales achievement and the ability to identify and position solutions for strategic opportunities. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills and ability to articulate complex messages clearly, simply and concisely. Demonstrated ability to quickly assimilate new areas of work. Proven ability to quickly develop trust and credibility, and to establish and build working relationships, within the organisation and in relevant sectors.

Strong team player and ability to collaborate and contribute at a team level. Due to the business development nature of this role, we are looking for a highly driven, dynamic, business savvy professional who has a proven track record of developing strong senior relationships across government and industry.
