We are working alongside a client of ours, a strong New Zealand Life Insurance company, to assist with adding a Risk Manager to the growing dynamic Risk & Compliance team.

As this company is going through an exciting growth period, they are expanding out in various areas which includes bringing in a Risk Manager to support the Chief Financial and Risk Officer (CFRO).

This is an exciting new role for an experienced Risk professional, or for an individual looking to gain new experience in Risk but will bring with them excellent communication skills with senior management, a fast learner, and the want for a new learning opportunity in this field.

This role is responsible for maintaining the risk management framework and compliance assurance programme, including preparation of reports to the Conduct Committee, Chief Financial and Risk Officer, and wider Senior Management.

The Risk Manager will also support the CFRO with the development and implementation of the risk management framework, including policy and internal control development. You will be responsible for keeping up to date with any relevant new regulatory requirements or changes.

The Risk Manager we are looking for must have strong experience in developing and implementing risk management policies and procedures. They must be able to report policy changes back to the wider business and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Preferably, the ideal candidate will be strategic and play a crucial role in identifying, analysing, and mitigating risks associated with the life insurance policies.

Role responsibilities develop and implement risk management policies and procedures. Maintains and monitors risk registers for all departments and performs risk assessments for all existing and new products, systems and vendors. Prepares risk register reports and analysis for review by the CFRO.

Monitor and maintain the Compliance Assurance Programme and related compliance activities on a continuous basis, including making recommendations to improve its effectiveness. Ensuring that IT systems and procedures comply with all relevant data privacy and protection law, regulation, and policy.

Execute the annual compliance plan under the direction and supervision of the CFRO. Assist the CFRO with the development of the internal controls assurance programme. Conduct internal controls audits in accordance with the internal controls assurance programme.

About you ideally 5+ years of Risk Management experience. Hold a qualification in business, commerce or risk management. Experience managing risk management and compliance frameworks.

Track record of policy development and implementation. Experience within the insurance or financial services industry in New Zealand or a broader understanding of the dynamics of insurance in this country.

Ability to report back to the wider business on any relevant changes. In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
