Redlands Uniting Church is one Congregation with 5 local churches in Capalaba, Cleveland, Redland Bay, Victoria Point and Wellington Point. The Congregation was inaugurated on 1 January 2022 bringing together the 5 previous congregations. The one Congregation has an estimated annual income of $700,000 with the equivalent of 3 full time Ministry agents.

The mission statement of the Congregation is “In response to God’s grace we will seek to be a fruitful, thriving community of faith, intentionally growing God’s Kingdom throughout the Redlands”.

This exciting development heralds a new beginning for the Uniting Church in the Redlands. An opportunity to establish the solid foundations for a Christ centred community mission ready to serve the community.

The role the Resource and Administrator Officer will be responsible for providing resourcing and administrative support within Redlands Uniting Church. The incumbent will be required to effectively support the communication, administration and compliance systems as required; and other emerging processes that underpin the mission and ministry of the congregation.

The position works within the framework of Redland’s Uniting Church as described in the “Redlands Uniting Church Governance and Decision-Making Structure”, as amended by Church Council from time to time.

In addition, this person must have experience in the use of software programs, including Microsoft Office, Xero, social media, Elvanto database (or similar), or can develop knowledge and skills of these and any other programs in a timely manner.

Be a team player able to encourage, lead and inspire others. Have effective communication skills. Responsibilities the Resource and Administration Officer will manage the day-to-day administrative activities of the Redland City Uniting Church to ensure they run smoothly.

Resource, implement and maintain a range of administrative processes and systems relating to the compliance, financial and property functions of the Congregation including Safe Ministry with Children, data management, covid compliance management, internal and external communication, and maintenance of a Process and Procedures Manual.

Resource and support local church Leadership Teams. Undertake the supervision of paid and volunteer administration assistants; monitor workload and performance, working in collaboration with the Church Council and Ministry Team Leader for any difficult performance management situations and identify any training issues.

Give administration support to the Church Council, Treasurer and various Teams with preparation and administration of the Budget. Attend Ministry Team meetings, working with the Ministry Team (currently the equivalent of 3 full-time agents) to achieve set goals and proclaim the gospel in word and deed through Christ-centred ministry.

Ex-officio member of the Church Council. Within limits of delegation oversee day to day financial activities liaising with the Congregation Treasurer. Resource local churches in lease arrangements with community organisations who rent local church facilities.

Coordinate the Congregation’s communication channels, including website, app, social media, and newsletter. Communicate with South Moreton Presbytery and Synod as needed. Facilitate input to assist the Church Council in developing, monitoring and regular review of a strategic plan with specific goals and milestones to realise the vision and missional goals of the Redland City Uniting Church.

Ability to build trust and relationships. Demonstrate flexibility, openness to change, creative thinking and ability to work in a team environment.

Understanding of, and a capacity to work within, the context of a Christian church; a willingness to work within the vision, mission, values and strategic direction of Redlands City Uniting Church and the ethos of the Uniting Church in Australia.

Selection criteria proven background in business functions, with specific skills in support of financial functions. Have experience in the use of software programs, including Microsoft Office, Xero, social media, Elvanto database (or similar), or can develop knowledge and skills of these and any other programs in a timely manner.

Demonstrated ability in internal and external communication including development and maintenance of social media platforms and websites. Knowledge of WH&S, Safe Ministry with Children, compliance, property management. Proven ability to work autonomously in a timely manner utilising well developed written and verbal communications with a commitment to high quality outcomes.

Ability to work within a team environment and negotiate and liaise with all groups within the broader structure of the Uniting Church. Ability to act with integrity, impartiality, openness and transparency whilst maintaining appropriate confidentiality and privacy. Proven expertise in administering a small business or Not-For-Profit organisation with an annual budget of up to $1 million.

Other requirements successful attainment and maintenance of a Blue Card. Driver’s Licence and means of transport. The role will be based initially at the Cleveland Office. Some occasional after hours and weekend work will be expected from time to time. The position will, ideally, suit someone who lives in or close to the Redlands.
