Description
We are seeking a Residential Supervisor to join our NITA Team at Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre.
Embraced by one of the world's most beautiful locations, the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre is an enticing destination to introduce visitors to both the stunning natural beauty of the Daintree and the rich culture of the Kuku Yalanji people.
The National Indigenous Training Academy (NITA) at Mossman Gorge provides Indigenous people from across Australia the opportunity to complete a nationally accredited workplace-based traineeship in hospitality, tourism or Retail.
We are seeking a dedicated and supportive Residential Supervisor to assist in managing the residential facility and provide personal leadership to Indigenous trainees, focusing on their wellbeing, motivation, and personal development. This role is pivotal in supporting trainees to build life skills, maintain employment, and successfully complete their traineeship.
Key Duties
Maintain the residential facility to high safety and liveability standards.
Provide personal leadership and mentoring to Indigenous trainees, supporting their health, hygiene, motivation and perseverance.
Design and implement programs that contribute to the personal and professional growth of trainees.
Respond to and manage incidents while ensuring appropriate processes are followed.
Build strong relationships with trainees, colleagues, and community stakeholders to support the effective delivery of programs.
Encourage trainees to maintain employment, complete their traineeship and participate in residential activities.

You will have:
Experience working in a boarding, dormitory or residential facility
Certificate III in Community Services or equivalent experience
Strong communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to build rapport with Indigenous Australians
First Aid Certificate and Class C Driver’s Licence
Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, challenges and aspirations
A passion for supporting others to achieve their goals
