The opportunity the LifeCourse platform brings together over 40 separate clinical and population-based longitudinal studies, spanning 0-35 years (including two trans-generational studies), involving over 70,000 participants. The psychosocial impact of COVID-19 and related restrictions has become an emerging area of focus and collaboration across LifeCourse cohorts, with a rapid and concerted effort to collect relevant data over the course of the pandemic. These data provide a unique opportunity to understand how pre-pandemic experiences shape risk and resilience for children and young people during the crisis, and in the long-term aftermath.
The LifeCourse COVID-Wellbeing Research Officer will analyse these data to examine key questions and communicate findings in peer-reviewed publications and non-technical forums. They will also play an important role in building collaborative efforts by sharing knowledge and resources across cohort researchers. An initial priority will be examination of the psychometric properties of the Coronavirus Health and Impact Survey (CRISIS) for children and young people. The Research Officer will be supported by regular supervision with Dr Meredith O’Connor, statistical consultation with Dr Marnie Downes, and oversight from the LifeCourse Committee and Prof Sharon Goldfeld.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to leading the formulation of analysis plans and undertaking analyses with ongoing statistical consultation. Drafting of manuscripts for submission to high-ranking peer-reviewed journals. Building positive collaborative relationships with cohorts, navigating data access processes, and ensuring all data security and reporting requirements are met. Acting as a central point for questions and knowledge sharing around the COVID Wellbeing research program.
Sharing analysis plans, data cleaning and analysis code, Endnote library, and other relevant resources with cohorts . Communicating research plans and findings with cohorts in an ongoing manner, such as through presentations to the COVID-Wellbeing Working Group and other forums. Supporting efforts to identify and secure funding to further build this research program. Coordinating translation and knowledge impact activities and engaging with the Impact Enabler.
You demonstrate expertise in working with longitudinal and life course data in the child and adolescent health context. Relevant Bachelors/Masters. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated excellent analytic skills in the longitudinal cohort context. Demonstrated capacity to work independently and lead studies to completion.
Demonstrated capacity for building and managing stakeholder relationships, and fostering knowledge sharing and collaborative team science. Excellent time management, organisational and analytical problem-solving skills. Track record of competitive funding and high-quality publications, research impact and peer recognition. Desirable PhD/Doctoral qualification with postdoctoral experience in psychology, epidemiology, or related discipline focused on child and adolescent health.
