Research Assistant University of New South Wales location Sydney. Opportunity to work on childhood cancer research, enjoy a career that makes a difference by collaborating & learning from the best, $74k-84k plus 9.5% superannuation and leave loading (pro-rata if part time), full time (35hrs/week) or part time, fixed term for 12 months. The School of Women’s & Children’s Health (SWCH) is comprised of the clinical disciplines of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Paediatrics, and the National Perinatal Epidemiology Statistics Unit (NPESU). The Behavioural Sciences Unit (BSU) established in 2001 in SWCH conducts research studies that cover all psychosocial, behavioural and nutritional aspects of paediatric cancer. The BSU is based at, and supported by, the Kids Cancer Centre, Sydney Children’s Hospital. The team is multidisciplinary, with representation from psychology, dietetics, paediatric oncology/haematology, social work, nursing, bereavement counselling, behavioural sciences, and exercise physiology. We are seeking a Research Assistant at the BSU who will provide administrative and research assistance to research studies investigating psychological and behavioural outcomes in childhood cancer survivors. As a Research Assistant you will conduct interviews with cancer survivors and their families, and coordinate the transcription of interviews with research participants; coordinate study recruitment including survey mail outs and respondent follow ups; data entry and coding of audio and/or video-recorded interviews; assist with the preparation of ethics applications, grant applications and manuscripts. To be successful in the role you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in health, psychology or a related discipline, previous experience providing research assistance for studies in a health-related field such as genetics service, previous experience in the area of psycho-oncology, and/or psychosocial implications of medical procedures or tests, knowledge of and aptitude to learn various it software, such as spss and endnote, demonstrated ability to maintain and organise complex filing systems and excellent communication skills.
