Purpose of the role the city life directorate delivers personalised and public services to enhance community life, including family, aged, leisure and cultural services. The purpose of the Ranger position is to provide consistency in the enforcement of laws and regulations that Council are responsible for within the Bayside Local Government Area and investigating reports of any breaches of these laws, ensuring that public safety is prioritised. Key relationships you will interact directly with the community and other groups, responding to complaints and raising awareness of Council organisational priorities to enhance community well-being. Part of this involves liaising with relevant authorities in emergency and public safety situations to assist with matters that cross jurisdictional boundaries. Key responsibilities as an articulate communicator, both verbally and written, you will be comfortable liaising with a wide variety of people in order to investigate and resolve complaints, as well as prepare briefs and evidence as required for court or tribunal hearings. Routine patrols are an essential part of the role, therefore a good level of physical fitness is necessary. Your ability to “think on your feet”, use your initiative and provide relevant solutions to problems that you encounter will underpin your success in this role. If you are hard-working and committed to providing superior customer service and have the capability to always act with integrity in your dealings with information, some of which may be sensitive in nature and use your initiative and advanced problem solving skills for exceptional outcomes, we would like to hear from you. Essential requirement minimum school certificate and/or experience in a relevant field, national criminal history check clearance, current driver’s licence class c, work on call after hours as required.
