About the role NZ Police are offering an exciting opportunity to join the Police Prosecution and Resolution Service (PPS) as a Prosecutor with the Wellington Kapi Mana PPS District, working out of the Porirua office.

With PPS you will gain a sound knowledge of prosecution processes including courtroom advocacy, knowledge of the Law, and court practices. You will be part of a diverse group of Constabulary prosecutors and Police Employee lawyers, along with support and managerial staff. Dependent on your level of experience and knowledge at entry, you will be involved in various office-based file management processes such as evidential analysis, submissions writing, as well as engaging with police investigators, defence counsel, and justice sector partners.

In addition, you will have ample opportunity to develop your advocacy skills in court, ranging from first appearances through to Judge Alone Trials, and Sentencings. Your knowledge and understanding of key New Zealand statutes and legislation, combined with a desire and motivation to present well-constructed, compelling prosecution cases, will enable you to undertake this vital operational role with both Police and the Criminal Justice Sector, helping us to deliver a quality service.

Special requirements the successful applicant will be required to undergo a full reference and security check prior to any offer of employment being made. On appointment, the successful applicant must reside within commutable distance to the Porirua Central Police Station.

If you are a Police Employee applicant, you must have an LLB degree and have the ability to get a practicing certificate and provide a copy of qualification eligibility. Shift work may be required - Prosecutors may be required to work Saturday court on a rostered basis and to relieve at other PPS Offices at times.
