Cablex Pty Ltd is Australia's leading globally recognised AS9100 manufacturer and exporter of Defence and Aerospace products to Australia, Germany, France and the USA including complex wiring harnesses, electromechanical assemblies, avionic bays, consoles and box build electrical enclosures. Cablex has significant experience in developing and building electrical systems for harsh environments and developing solutions where electrical noise is a critical factor.

Our work is largely project driven with a continued growth in customer orders.  We are looking for a Production Engineer to join our Operations Team in East Bentleigh, Melbourne. The principle responsibility for this position is to provide engineering support for projects and day-to-day activities within the Australian cabling production unit.

This engineering position will play a key role in identifying the methods and documentation required to ensure the efficient manufacture of customer specific orders and will frequently participate in developing reliability-driven processes to industry and customer standards ensuring that Data packs, related drawings/documentation and jigs/form-boards are compliant to customer specifications.

Process improvements, cost/waste reduction, production efficiency reviews. Troubleshooting of equipment (crimping, cutting, braiding) and process-related issues. Overseeing any equipment changes and Capital projects related to capability enhancements. Assisting the Quality Engineer and Production to resolve quality issues. Creating/updating production drawings using AutoCAD. Supporting the assembly of prototypes and introduction of new work.

Essential qualifications candidates must have a B.Eng. in the electrical/mechanical/industrial engineering fields. Have at least two years of relevant electrical manufacturing process design. Highly developed computer skills Excel Advanced is essential, familiarity with Microsoft Projects, AutoCAD, and Solidworks etc are a distinct advantage.

The successful candidate will also have a sound working knowledge of ISO9001, AS9001, IPC620B, J-standards and Milspec standards. A demonstrated ability to utilise electrical engineering skills across multiple concurrently active projects. Ability to work closely with Project Managers and the Production Team to ensure customer expectations are met. A strong work ethic and high motivation.

Demonstrated ability to plan, organise, schedule, and direct projects and tasks. Demonstrated ability to trouble-shoot issues and assist in root-cause analysis techniques. Aptitude for applying principles associated with health, safety, and environmental controls and monitoring equipment. Self-starter and independently motivated. Adaptable to changing conditions and priorities High level of tolerance to change. Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
