University of Canterbury Students Association (UCSA). UCSA is the University of Canterbury Students’ Association Incorporated. Established in 1894, the UCSA is a not for profit organisation with charity status. At times, the UCSA employs up to 140 full time, part-time and casual staff who report through to the Chief Executive. This role will assist with the delivery of the Ka Ora, Ka Ako Healthy school lunches programme. The programme aims to reduce food insecurity by providing access to a nutritious lunch in school every day.

Based at our Hornby Production Kitchen, You will assist with the day-to-day operations to ensure that 3,000 high-quality lunches are produced for primary and secondary school students daily during school term time. You will coordinate particular sections of production as required, and ensure stock is maintained efficiently.

The successful applicant will have at least 2 years prior experience in a production or catering kitchen, as well as qualifications level 3 National Certificate in Hospitality (Professional Cookery).

Personal attributes you will have excellent leadership skills, as well as the ability to work in a team. Honesty and reliability are a must. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Well-developed organisational, delegation and supervisory skills. You have the ability to prioritise, multitask and work under pressure. Self-motivated, proactive with excellent time management skills. You will have a high level of attention to detail.

This is a permanent, full-time position during school time, with a minimum of 40 hours per week requiring flexibility with work hours. The Production Kitchen operates from 3 AM daily, and you will need to have reliable transport to accommodate a variety of shifts.
