The board of Pukeatua Primary School is seeking an experienced, or first-time principal, to inspire, lead and facilitate our dual-medium learning community in the Wellington region (Wainuiomata) in which tamariki experience positive learning, achievement and success in ways that nurture their strengths, identity, culture and language, and their whānau trust and have confidence in our teaching, support and auxiliary staff because they can readily see, hear and feel their tamariki are being looked after and supported in their learning.

Our new principal will be committed to our values of Whakaute (Respect), Manaakitanga (Caring & Sharing), Ngana (Commitment), and Tuakiri (Identity), and have a passion for tamariki and their learning, and learning about our diverse community leadership experience and a commitment to educational professionalism, and an understanding of what that means varied life experience, and recognition of the importance of, and ability to maintain, strong relationships with tamariki, whānau, staff and community.

Our school is in part of the Wellington region that offers affordable living in a growing suburb with a strong sense of community birthplace of kōhanga reo “a bi-cultural marae for the community”, working with all tribes and ethnic groups numerous sporting clubs easy access to biking and walking tracks (Waiu Park, Wainuiomata Trail Park, Wainuiomata Regional Park, Orongorongo Valley) and the site of a proposed 3,313 hectare predator-proof wildlife sanctuary (Puketahā) and Wellington provides opportunities to engage with key players in national education.
