Exciting opportunity to be part of an established large scale orchard operation located in the Hawkes Bay region and based near Hasting-Napier with orchards located in Meeanee, Twyford and Havelock North.

FarmRight Ltd operates as Portfolio Investment Manager for the New Zealand Superannuation Fund and oversees more than 18,400 hectares of farm and orchard land across the country. In 2017 FarmRight widened its scope into viticulture and horticulture management and today continues to analyse and acquire commercial rural properties, providing a need for ongoing operational and management capability.

Located in the Hawkes Bay region, our Meeanee, Twyford and Havelock North orchards (known locally as Rosewood Orchards) are a short drive from both town centres.  We manage 80 ha predominately of Envy with Jugala apple varieties growing on modern structures and utilising innovative technology and modern systems to enhance productivity and sustainability across the orchard.

This is a diverse role that offers the opportunity to kick start your career within pipfruit under the guidance of an experienced Operational Team that provide excellent opportunities for your personal development and advancement.

Key responsibilies undertake harvest operations in accordance with quality productivity standard whilst ensuring minimal crop damage prune and thin trees to as required to optimise growth and fruit production. Throughout daily activities to continually monitor trees for pests, diseases and report to manager.

Assist with maintenance of irrigation systems and weed control programmes. Under direction assist with maintenance of orchard as required. Support seasonal tasks under the direction of the Orchard Manager (Rosewood). Collaborate with team to complete task efficiently while adhering to safety standards.

Who We’re Looking for proven experience in an outdoor working environment or similar role. Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and possess a can-do attitude with a problem solving mind set.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Demonstrated experience in operating machinery and plant equipment. Hold a current NZ Drivers Licence or ability to obtain one. Understanding of the importance of compliance to standards, such as Global GAP is desirable but not essential.
