The position this is an outstanding opportunity to be part of an exciting new zoo in the role of Operations Crew, utilising your skills in an area that you are genuinely passionate about. This role will commence as soon as possible. The Operations Crew will be responsible for ensuring that Sydney Zoo is a safe and well-maintained environment for all employees, animals, and customers by maintaining and monitoring all facilities, gardens, and exhibits at Sydney Zoo.

Skills, Knowledge and Relevant Experience in general maintenance, landscaping, and gardening. Ability to use own initiative and be proactive in completing tasks to a time schedule. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the role as outlined, and actively work outdoors in hot or inclement weather.

Able to work in a fast-paced environment, with good organisational skills. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Experience using hand and/or electrical tools. Experience using Microsoft programs such as Word & Excel.

White Card Driver’s license and the ability to drive a manual vehicle. Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills. Knowledge of and commitment to Workplace Health and Safety, and Equal Employment Opportunity. Experience in Turf Maintenance (Desirable). Experience in Landscape Construction (Desirable). Experience in Irrigation Projects (Desirable). First Aid Certificate (Desirable).
