Job Description
In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
Leading the development and implementation of a proactive safety culture built on wellbeing, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Overseeing and enhancing OHS management systems, ensuring compliance with legislation, regulatory requirements, and organisational goals.
Providing leadership and support to OHS Representatives across sites, including training, inspections, audits, and compliance monitoring.
Investigating incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing preventative measures.
Regularly reviewing and updating OHS policies, procedures, and safe operating practices.
Managing WorkCover claims and coordinating effective return-to-work programs.
Overseeing the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring accurate reporting and analysis of organisational safety data.
Engaging with external bodies, including WorkSafe Victoria, to remain up to date with safety trends and regulatory changes.
Promoting safety awareness through visible leadership, communication, and active participation in meetings and committees.
Travel regularly across are-able sites to provide hands-on support and ensure daily compliance.
Desired Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience leading and managing Occupational Health & Safety functions within a complex or multi-site organisation.
Relevant qualifications in OHS, Risk Management, or a related field (safety leadership or cultural change training highly regarded).
Strong knowledge of OHS legislation, regulations, and industry best practice, with the ability to apply these in a practical, organisation-wide context.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain a positive safety culture through collaboration, coaching, and proactive engagement.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, educate, and build trust across diverse teams.
Experience developing, implementing, and reviewing OHS policies, procedures, and systems to drive compliance and continuous improvement.
High-level analytical and problem-solving skills, with expertise in risk assessment, incident investigation, and solution development.
