Our jobs are diverse, challenging and rewarding. Museum Assistant (AFP Band 3). Applications are invited from suitably qualified people who are interested in an appointment to the AFP. The AFP is seeking dynamic and motivated individuals with a passion for research and sound administrative skills to join the AFP Museum.  The AFP Museum collects, preserves and exhibits objects related to the history of the AFP and its predecessors. As a Museum Assistant at the AFP Museum your work will include assisting the Museum Team Leader and Museum Curator.

As a Team Member in the AFP you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

Your duties will include the Museum Assistant will assist the Museum Team Leader and Museum Curator to identify, acquire and document objects for the AFP Museum collection.  Maintain preservation of objects in the collection. Maintain and develop displays developed by the Museum.

Conduct research and produce research files. Liaise with Museum clients and stakeholders, both internal and external, including conducting general and education tours. Manage daily administrative, property maintenance and security tasks.

Essential requirements, skills or experience a Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one. Relevant qualifications or experience working in museums or a related field.

Desirable requirements, skills or experience an interest in historic vehicles. Experience in facilitating education delivery.

Eligibility to be eligible you must be an Australian Citizen. This position requires the successful candidate to obtain a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance.

Additional information this recruitment is being used to create a pool for future vacancies that may arise over the next 12 months. This position is located in Canberra, ACT. Successful applicants must be willing to relocate to Canberra.
