We’re looking for a really nice couple to come and be really nice to our guests so our #1 rated motel remains the #1 rated motel in Halls Gap. Beautiful mountain location. 12 month contract, with option to extend long term if we’re all happy. Seeking a couple who genuinely care about making sure that every guest has a great experience. This is a full time on-site managers role in a busy motel in an absolutely beautiful location. Package includes accommodation and all utilities, with regularly scheduled time off to enjoy the local attractions, or get away from it all.

The motel has 23 rooms, and enjoys strong occupancy during the peak months from September to May, with a lull over the period from June to August. So you will work hard, but you won't be on your own. There are cleanering and groundskeeping staff already in place, and the owner will be actively supporting the new managers. Halls Gap is a popular destination for both domestic and international guests (when they are allowed to return). The tourism industry is mostly centred around hiking in the Grampians National Park, with other activities including local wineries, the Silo Art Trail, ancient Aboriginal art sites, restaurants, cafes, micro brewery and more.
We are looking for full-time managers to take over the day-to-day operations of the motel for a 12 month contract, with the option to extend for longer if everyone is happy with how things are going. A long service bonus is payable after 2 years. The owner will maintain an active role in managing the business including financial management, setting rates and managing availability, and staffing. They will also return to the motel every four weeks to provide the on-site managers with support, and some well-earned time off.
We are looking for a couple who can maintain the high standards of cleanliness, friendliness and customer service we have built our business on. You don't have to know how to run a motel, we didn't when we first got here. You just have to be the sort of people who care about making sure every guest has a really good experience. Managers position this is an on-site role with accommodation provided at no cost, including all utilities and unlimited internet access, and a streaming service of your choice;
12 month contract, with the opportunity to extend by mutual agreement. Breakfast can be taken from the available motel breakfast supplies. No other meals are provided, unless you want corn flakes for dinner, in which case go for it. The position would best suit a couple without children; couples with children are very welcome to apply but it is more difficult with kids, especially if school aged.
A car allowance is provided for motel-related travel, your own vehicle is required. Food Handling Certificate is required (this can be obtained easily after you accept the position). Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate is required (this can be obtained easily after you accept the position). An interest in light bushwalking/hiking would be a great advantage.
Work Hours Reception is open from 8:00am to 8:00pm. Breakfast is offered from 7:30am in our dining room, set-up from 7am. (Note breakfast is currently on hold due to the Coronavirus, but will return when conditions are right).
After hours work is minimal, but important calls from guests on-site with a problem in their room (this is quite rare, but usually urgent). Late night phone bookings. Late walk-ins are accepted if rooms are available. Managers will work 7 days a week, with 5 days off every 4 weeks (not weekends), plus 2 weeks holiday (not to be taken during peak periods including school holidays). The owner of the business will return to manage the motel on your days off.
Responsibilities guest check-ins & check-outs and all aspects of customer service. Handling phone enquiries and taking reservations. Stock control including ordering linen, cleaning supplies, breakfast supplies and kiosk stock. Managing staff (cleaners and groundskeeper). Light maintenance as required, and coordinating with tradespeople for heavier work. Some cleaning is required to assist the cleaning staff on peak days or to cover for staff illness. Cleaning work above the agreed hours will be paid extra.
Light administrative duties (most admin will be done by the owners). If you have never managed a motel before, this is a wonderful opportunity. Most manager positions do not come with the level of support and ongoing training that this role provides. If you have managed a motel before, we will agree on a set of expectations and leave you to do what you do well. Living and working surrounded by the beautiful Grampians is a wonderful experience. You will work hard, but you will also have plenty of time off to enjoy theamazing surroundings.
