Medical Laboratory Assistant NSW Health location Sydney. Salary $1,028.14 - $1,069.96.

A vacancy exists for a Technical Assistant at the NSW Health Pathology Microbiology laboratory, in Liverpool Hospital. This is a temporary position contracted until the end of the year. This laboratory provides Microbiology services to several hospitals within the South West Sydney Local Health District including Liverpool, Fairfield, Campbelltown, Bankstown, Camden and Bowral hospitals, using state-of-the-art in automation technology and digital bacteriology.

This shift position is key to the continued provision of high class 24 hour, 7 days per week Microbiology services, and as such will be required to work within a rotating roster with other scientific and technical assistant staff to cover out of hours services. This position provides an opportunity to enter the clinical Microbiology industry.

What you'll be doing duties include specimen receipt and processing, bacterial culture setup, media preparation, maintenance of various laboratory equipment. Other laboratory duties including preparation of materials and the maintenance of equipment in line with established laboratory processes, procedures and protocols will also be undertaken.
