About the program the nulka product has been a leading australian defence export product for over 20 years. The Nulka program continues to support the Navy in providing a world leading Electronic Warfare system to protect the navy fleet. The program operates in a matrix organisation, with engineers assigned to multi-disciplinary teams associated with specific projects that cover development, in-service support and production support. About the opportunity we are looking for mechanical engineers to help build the next generation, mission critical, and world leading nulka system in this newly created role. With key focus on integration and testing activities and some exposure to modifying and adapting existing design, you will ensure the product fit and ready for manufacture. This role will offer opportunity to be mentored by highly experienced engineers in the team and you will have an option (if you desire) to work closely with the customer where required. This role in a highly successful commercial iconic defense program of Australia will offer hands-on actual building and testing experience. Career path in this role is varied and exciting. There will be opportunities for you to diversify into other key programs at different lifecycle stages or to continue your career as a subject matter expert/ in leadership capacity within the same project, should you so desire. In more specific terms, you will develop optimised mechanical system and present the designs in design reviews, undertake mechanical system detailed design analysis to identify the optimum design for the defined system architecture, undertake the translation of the mechanical system into a manufacturable product and incorporate design for manufacture factors, undertake the mechanical system integration and qualification activities, including analysis of results, developing qualification plans and reports, undertake the mechanical system and/or equipment product assembly, integration, and testing, ensure all documents and artefacts are managed in accordance with appropriate standard procedures, including compliance with the required product change management and quality control processes. As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have demonstrable experience in structural designs, integration, validation and qualification testing, engineering discipline (naval architecture/aerospace/mechanical) degree qualified and satisfying the requirements for membership of the institute of engineers australia, current nv1 clearance, experience in computer aided design (cad).
