Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua, the TEC - is a small Crown agency with a big job to do. We not only invest over $3 billion annually in tertiary education, but as New Zealand's Careers Agency, we also provide a publicly available careers information service that includes a database of information about occupations and tertiary education and training.
Facilitate and strengthen the connections between schools, employers, and tertiary education organisations to ensure students are better prepared for employment and further education and training or both.
The Manager - Products & Channels has a pivotal role ensuring we meet our legislative requirements for careers services. This is a fixed term role for atleast 12 months through to January 2026 to cover parental leave. Strictly Wellington based position.
Aramahi me te Haumi: Careers & Investment Design Directorate the Careers & Investment Design Directorate (CID) is responsible for developing strategies, initiatives and policies that enable the organisation to effectively and efficiently meet its goals in the areas of careers and investment.
All teams in the directorate are focused on work that develops, leads or contributes to the design of these strategies, initiatives and policies. They are responsible for developing the interventions and plans off those strategies, and then marketing and communicating the integrated view of what TEC wants to achieve.
The basis of our work is the horizontal work model and so the CID teams work in partnership with teams from other directorates, so the design and commissioning of new products and initiatives is a collaborative process that ensures successful implementation and delivery.
About the role reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Careers & Investment Design, this is a T3 role that is responsible for managing TEC's Content teams and product owner roles, with a focus on the design and content development of all TEC channels.
This role also requires close collaboration and relationship with the Engagement Group to ensure that brand guidelines, key messages and audience insights are applied consistently across channel design and content creation.
Representing as Business Owner to different layers of governance such as ELT, Board, Steering Group, Working Group, to ensure that concepts and options are socialised and communicated well for timely approvals to meet the work programme for the team.
Enabling more resource/skill sharing, building a centre of expertise with consistent processes, having a focus on content of all the TEC channels, creating a long-range plan for Tahatū Career navigator and other TEC channels and their future years of development.
What we are looking for you will be responsible for three teams: TEC Content Team, Tahatū Content Team and Design Team, as well as a Product Owner and Change Manager. As this is a fixed term position, we are seeking an experienced leader who can maintain a high-performing team culture, knows how to effectively commission work, allocate resources according to business priorities, and will be able to come into the position and continue the great mahi this group are responsible for.
You will bring the following leadership experience in product or web channel management. The ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues within and across different Directorates. Strong understanding not only of how web development works, but also how web channels are promoted and used by different audiences such as business to consumer and business to business channels.
As this role holds the business ownership role for Tahatū Career Navigator and Inspiring the Future (ItF), it needs experience in creating a future roadmap of continuous development. Experience in leading teams, developing a high-performance team culture, and knows how to effectively commission work and allocate resources.
