About the Role
Our Sustainability Consulting team in Sydney is rapidly expanding and as a result we now have an opportunity for an experienced sustainability professional that can manage the delivery of climate-related risk projects. This role includes supporting in business and practice development activities through the development of client proposals and market facing collateral, and enhancement of BDO’s climate-related tools, processes, and practices by bringing new ideas and thinking to the table.
Current opportunity
This is a client-facing consulting role which requires the application of sustainability strategy, transformation and related service delivery experience that will include collaboration with other BDO service lines. The role will manage and oversee individual and team workload, using project management skills to deliver exceptional service outcomes for all clients.
This role sits within BDO Sydney’s Consulting team, which specialises in developing and executing innovative strategies and operational frameworks to help clients realise their strategic goals.
Duties and responsibilities:
Undertake climate-related risk and opportunity assessments for a range of clients across all sectors.
Undertake climate scenario analysis (physical and transition), in line with the expectations of Australia’s mandatory climate-related disclosure standards.
Critically analyse and interpret our client’s exposure and resilience to climate-related risks, and develop strategies to address these. This includes developing climate transition plans and integrating climate initiatives into broader sustainability strategy development.
Support the delivery of sustainability strategy engagements including materiality, maturity assessments, roadmap development and transformation support.
Advise clients across a range of sectors on value-creating and bespoke climate solutions to address opportunities and challenges, including adaptation measures.
Liaise with client senior management, C-Suite and Boards to ensure engagement objectives are met and engagement risks are mitigated.
Develop market facing materials about BDO’s sustainability practice (e.g. thought leadership articles, presentations) and contribute to internal capability building through the development of tools and training.
Support in developing and optimising national sustainability and climate methodologies to help drive efficiency and consistency across the broader sustainability team.
Mentor and guide junior team members during client engagements and supporting their professional development.
Understand and apply the firm’s quality and professional delivery standards required to deliver sustainability services.
About you
Our ideal candidate comes from a lengthy Consulting background working with various organisations to support their sustainability and climate-related requirements. This role requires an agile individual with a growth-mindset.
Combined with:
Strong sustainability consulting experience across multiple sectors and engagement types gained within leading professional services firms, with track record of delivery.
Strong climate modelling, scenario analysis and climate risk experience, including experience gathering and analysing climate-related data.
Demonstrable experience and knowledge of sustainability solutions for clients in response to sustainability challenges.
Demonstrable experience working with senior stakeholders across a broad range of clients and industries.
Ability to form strong working relationships with market-leading clients to support their sustainability aspirations.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative and innovative culture focused on developing strategic solutions that create long term value for clients.
Relevant tertiary qualification(s) in a related discipline.
Strong project management, presentation, facilitation, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and delivery of high-quality client deliverables.
