Library Assistant or Technician Sydney Grammar School location Sydney.

Applications are invited from experienced Library Technicians to support the School’s Teacher Librarian in the practical and operational aspects of the Library’s operations. This is a permanent part-time position, four days per week (Tuesday to Friday) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during term time and for up to six weeks of the school holiday periods, if required. The Library Assistant/Technician contributes to the promotion of the Library as a warm, supportive hub of the School.

Key responsibilities assist students and staff with queries and the locating and selecting of resources. Circulation duties such as borrowing, returning, reserving and shelving resources. Assist with Library related events (such as Book Week). Physical processing of resources. Manage the overdue processes for Library resources. Design displays, flyers and promotional material for the Library.

Support other Library staff in the processing and accessioning of resources, including data entry. Assist in the stocktaking of material. Assist with the supervision of Library Monitors. Student supervision and support before, during and after school hours, Reading mentorship. A commitment to student care and wellbeing, including a commitment to child safety. Other duties as required.

The successful applicant will have sound Library skills and experience. Good knowledge of an automated library system (e.g. Oliver), Excellent worth ethic, Advanced computing skills. Ability to promote the Library through creative and informative displays. A flexible attitude with a willingness to learn new skills. A strong customer service focus, with the ability to develop positive relationships. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Qualifications and experience library Technician qualification preferred. Previous experience working in a library (school, public or tertiary). Experience or familiarity with Library Management Systems (e.g. Oliver). A valid Working with Children Check and be eligible to work in Australia.
