Description

Library Assistant Hurunui District Council location Canterbury.

The ideal candidates will have excellent people skills including being patient, friendly and helpful. A passion for reading and the wellbeing that derives from this. A genuine belief in the role libraries play in digital inclusion. A high level of digital confidence and skill, including the use of computers, programmers and mobile devices. The ability to work with people of all walks of life and embrace diversity.

A genuine interest and empathy in helping people of all ages and abilities. An enthusiasm to assist in the delivery of children's and adult events and programmes. The ability to work well independently and as part of a team. A current driver's licence. Numeracy and money handling skills. The drive to take responsibility for your own learning.

Library experience and qualifications are desirable but not essential as full training will be offered to the successful candidates. The roles are based at the Amberley Memorial Library with the opportunity of working in our other libraries across the beautiful Hurunui District. These fixed-term positions are available as part of the Government's COVID-19 response and are in place until 30 June 2022.
