Legal and Governance Adviser New Zealand Infrastructure Commission location Wellington. Salary $88,450 - $110,000.
Who are we the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission/Te Waihanga (Infracom) was established on 24 September 2019 and its key role involves providing New Zealand’s 30-year infrastructure strategy, information to industry, and procurement advice to government agencies, local authorities and others to procure and deliver major infrastructure projects.
What you’ll do you will provide legal advice and implement corporate initiatives to enable Infracom to agilely deliver its work programme and functions. You’ll help us strike the right balance between getting things done and doing the right thing (i.e. having ‘just right’ risk management controls to protect our Board, our people, our stakeholders and our systems).
You’ll do a variety of corporate legal work, including providing pragmatic legal advice to Infracom’s Board, preparing and finalising Board papers, managing declaration of interest and risk registers, and assisting with Board secretariat duties.
Advising on procurement matters and tender processes, including legally reviewing documents, advising on evaluations, and negotiating a variety of All of Government/goods/services contracts.
Advising on matters relating to personal information and confidentiality, and managing matters relating to Official Information Act and Privacy Act requests. Providing business-styled legal opinions, and advising on a variety of general legal matters. Drafting and maintaining policies, processes and procedures, including using interactive digital tools to deliver Infracom’s compliance programme.
Reviewing corporate accountability documents and overall having plenty of opportunity to flex your problem solving, project management and communication skills. This Wellington based opportunity would suit a digitally savvy public sector/in-house lawyer who has 3-5 years PQE, life skills to take on challenges, and lots of initiative. The role reports to the General Manager, Corporate Services, who is also Infracom’s chief legal counsel. The role usually pays between $88,450 to $110,000 depending on skills and experience.
