About the Law society the New Zealand Law Society | Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa is the professional body for barristers and solicitors in New Zealand. The Law Society regulates all lawyers practising in New Zealand and is the membership organisation for practising lawyers. With 13 branch offices throughout the country, the Law Society is the Kaitiaki (guardian) of the practise of law in Aotearoa New Zealand and the consumers of legal services.

About the role we are seeking a fantastic administrator, with previous experience in a legal environment, to support our Prosecutions Manager in managing disciplinary tribunal prosecutions on behalf of the Law Society’s Lawyers Complaints Service standards committees.

Your day-to-day will revolve around providing secretarial and admin support, and you will be confident with preparing documents or drafting correspondence, responding to requests, organising meetings, and updating databases.

You will be able to pick up new systems quickly and make the role your own, using your initiative to take care of the administrative side of things and look ahead to what’s coming up next. You will be confident working independently as part of a small team. The work is challenging and varied, requiring a high level of judgement and great customer service skills. This is a permanent part-time position (20 hours per week) with days flexible for the right candidate.

Our next Legal Administrator will have legal knowledge, or experience working in a legal environment is preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Intermediate user of Microsoft Office suite of programmes and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Information gathering and monitoring skills. Problem analysis and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and accuracy.
