About the role victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Lecturer in Early Childhood Education on a permanent, full-time contract. The successful candidate will have relevant academic and professional qualifications in Early Childhood Education, with specific expertise in early childhood curriculum and pedagogy.

Applicants should clearly outline their specific EC curriculum and pedagogical expertise and research in their covering letter of application. Evidence of culturally responsive practices and knowledge is essential, with experience working with Māori and Pacific particularly welcomed.

Key responsibilities teach Early Childhood Education undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including in EC curriculum and pedagogy, in both initial teacher education programmes and in postgraduate qualifications.  Visiting and mentoring EC student teachers is an important part of the role.

Develop a strong research programme, including actively seeking research funding, and supervise postgraduate students in research topics related to their area of specialisation. Contribute to Hautūtanga/leadership to the profession, University, Faculty and School and engagement in scholarly and administrative services is also expected.

About you key requirements you will have a completed PhD in Early Childhood Education and a New Zealand recognised early childhood teaching qualification. Registration and full certification (or eligibility to apply for these) with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand is essential.

Be able to effectively engage and mentor students from different backgrounds and demonstrate the ability to work collegially in a team, contribute effectively to the administration of the programmes and provide evidence of a commitment to our obligations to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in an academic and professional context.
