Learning Assistant Addington Te Kura Taumatua location Canterbury. $23 – $30 per hour.

Our school is an inclusive school and celebrates diversity. As such, some of our children need some extra support from a Learning Assistant. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children and can support a variety of students in the areas of learning, sensory/physical needs, emotional regulation and behaviour.

The role will work in the classroom alongside kaiako/teachers and other learning assistants and also in breakout spaces and the playground. A good sense of humour, a love of children and being a strong team member are all required for the role. Experience in Teacher Aiding would be a definite advantage.

We have 2 positions available general classrooms - 25 hours per week, 9am - 3pm, Monday to Friday, we may be able to consider some flexibility or Harakeke (special needs unit) 15 hours per week, 9am - 12pm, Monday to Friday, we may be able to consider some flexibility in start time and there is a possibly these hours could increase.

This role includes personal cares - toileting, feeding, supervised administering medications for which there is additional hourly remuneration. Lifting of students and assisting with movement (including pushing wheelchairs and bikes) is also required. These positions begin Monday 17th July and ends on Tuesday 19th December.
