The Watercare Laboratory Services have a vacancy for a Microbiology Laboratory Technician, based at Airport Oaks, Mangere. If you have a sound understanding of Microbiology and the application of QA procedures, then this role could be your next career move. If successful, you will be involved with various aspects of Microbiology testing including testing of water, wastewater and environmental samples.

Key responsibilities performing routine analyses, testing, and calibration. Performing specialised method analyses as directed. Contribute toward the continued development of Laboratory methods, standards and procedures. Optimise the operational effectiveness of the Laboratory by identifying potential problems and/or issues.

Ensure a healthy and safe work environment at all times. Participating in specific projects as requested. Support Laboratory functions including general housekeeping of allocated workspace, preparing reagents, cleaning glassware, and maintaining equipment.

Requirements for the role tertiary qualification in Microbiology or at least 2 years appropriate experience. Thorough understanding and application of QA procedures essential. Previous laboratory experience is highly desirable. Well-developed data analysis and problem-solving skills. Ability to transfer knowledge and skills to others. Exposure to IANZ 17025 would be advantageous.
