The company Omya is a producer of industrial minerals, mainly fillers and pigments derived from calcium carbonate and dolomite, and a worldwide distributor of specialty chemicals. Calcium carbonate from their Te Kuiti operation in New Zealand is used by major industry partners in glass and packaging manufacture. Omya New Zealand has developed a reputation for being proactive in environmental matters and setting an outstanding example to others in the mineral processing industry.

The role responsibilities as a part time assistant working at the site in Te Kuiti, you will be testing rock and mineral samples to verify whether they meet our client’s needs. The successful applicant will be provided training to use the laboratory equipment and machinery, however some laboratory experience would be an advantage.

You will be a person who appreciates the need for accuracy and providing a high-quality service. A systematic approach and commitment to recording results consistently will ensure your success in this role.

We are seeking candidates with knowledge of health and safety in a manufacturing environment. Experience with MS Office and/or an ERP system. Excellent communication skills. Ability to prioritise and organise your work. Ability to commit to consistent work hours. Legal right to work in New Zealand.
