About the role at Southbase, we are seeking a detail orientated (Junior) to join our dynamic and busy team in Christchurch. If you are an existing Junior looking to broaden your experience from either a subcontractor or a Tier 3 - 4 contractor then this role could be for you.

Reporting directly to the Estimating manager, some examples of key tasks involved in our Junior role; responsible for the gathering and careful analysis of information, raising reports, completing admin tasks, participating in meetings, providing input into the strategic direction of the Company and supporting your wider Estimating team on tenders.

You will have previous experience of at least 1 - 2 years in Commercial estimation/pricing. A Bachelors Degree in a relevant field such as Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. Tender Management: Experience in initiating and securing subcontractor relations, assisting in tender presentations, and managing resources for tendering opportunities.

Cost Analysis: Proficiency in carrying out cost studies, cost research, and pricing main contractor’s work, including Preliminary and General items. Project Quantification: Ability to quantify projects, review alternative construction methods, and construct a program of events/activities in collaboration with managers.

Post-Tender Activities: Skills in responding to tender clarifications, negotiating details with subcontractors, and preparing final summaries for successful tenders. Market Awareness: Knowledge of developing market awareness, communicating current trends to key decision-makers, and preparing regular reports for the Regional Leadership team. NZ Residency or a valid NZ work visa.
