ABBTF is a non-for-profit charitable organisation, we are funded by a small training contribution on the sale of clay bricks and concrete masonry and a matching contribution from participating clay brick and concrete block manufacturers.
The long-term health of the construction industry is an important driver of economic growth and employment and requires a well-trained and engaged workforce. Currently there is a skill shortage of qualified brick and blocklayers, which needs to be addressed by increasing the numbers of appropriate people taking on apprenticeships, and by increasing the skills of those already in the trade.
Our main goal is to help support young Australians build a career in the building and construction industry starting with an apprenticeship in brick and blocklaying. We aim to be the catalyst for recruiting the next generation of brick and blocklayers by providing a collaborative grassroots approach to construction workforce with a key focus on attraction, preparation, placement and retention.
This is achieved by providing a number of support services and resources for both apprentices and employers, as well as educating students, teachers, career advisors and parents of the different career pathway options and opportunities that exist with a trade qualification.
