About the role Tāmaki Makaurau (TM) Intelligence has a permanent position available for an Intelligence Support Officer based at Otahuhu Police Station.

TM Intelligence is an integral part of the deployment centre based at Piki Ki Te Ao, 482 Great South Road, Otahuhu. TM Intelligence comprises a large portion of the total intelligence workforce in Police and is made up of analytical, scanning and targeting, operation support, real time, collections as well as area intelligence teams. At TM Intelligence we have a critical role in supporting Police to reduce and prevent crime and victimisation in New Zealand.

We seek to improve the understanding of criminal activities and road trauma to disrupt or prevent criminal activity by providing specialist support to District Leadership Teams at all levels. The role of an Intelligence Support Officer entails collection, collation, storage, retrieval and dissemination of information for intelligence purposes.

This role will include gaining and developing an understanding of NZ Police Intelligence Model. Building and maintaining internal and external relationships. Contributing to local, TM and National intelligence picture. Identifying LOIs and POIs and preparing intelligence products. Preparing frontline support products for daily briefings.

The work we do directly contributes to positive outcomes for our communities by influencing decision-makers and informing deployment for our frontline colleagues efficiently and to reduce victimisation.

As an Intelligence Support Officer you will be focusing on providing intelligence to assist with informing and driving the deployment of operational resources, enabling the understanding of the criminal environment and trends as well as facilitating evidence-based actions.

Intelligence Support Officers provide accurate, timely and meaningful intelligence about the environment and individuals of interest by identifying opportunities to prevent or disrupt criminal activities. There may be operational requirements to work other shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Key accountabilities contribute to the daily intelligence for the Area Leadership Team. Prepare frontline support, tasking products and material for daily briefings. Contribute to the preparation of core intelligence and analytical products. Conduct basic statistical, graphical and geospatial analysis.

Maintain knowledge of the criminal environment and intelligence priorities. Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with partner people, workgroups and organisations. Proficient in using Microsoft Office, (Word PowerPoint) and applications including NIA, Bail management, RIOD, Smart Client and INet.
