Intelligence Officer Department of Corrections location Otago.

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Southern Region Intelligence team, based at Otago Corrections Facility. Reporting to the Manager Regional Intelligence, Southern the Intelligence Officer role is part of a small team tasked to provide quality actionable intelligence to support Hōkai Rangi and help to protect victims, prevent criminal activity and support staff safety.

About you we are after a hardworking person with an understanding of operational and tactical intelligence. You will apply your operational experience to help collect information in order to help prevent harm and manage future risk, including the prevention and detection of criminal activity in prisons. Through the development, coordination and maintenance of an integrated network you will ensure the timely and accurate delivery of information and intelligence to support your team and decision-makers

Skills and experience to be successful in this role, you will have a sound understanding of the principles and methodologies of the Intelligence Cycle and intelligence collection plans and processes. The credibility, integrity and personality to establish and maintain strong relationships internal and external to the Department. Experience in interviewing.

Knowledge of the legislation governing information collection, storage, dissemination and use. Ability to work in a team, being responsible for your own tasks and wider joint tasks. Strong oral and written communications skills. Ideally the preferred candidate will have formal intelligence qualifications (Level 3 Certificate in Intelligence as a minimum).  Possessing an ability to evaluate information with a sense of urgency, you will be committed to ensuring the integrity of our operations, elevating concerns before issues arise.

A full driver licence is required as travel will be a requirement of this role. The successful applicant must obtain, and maintain, a Secret clearance. Salary This position is covered by a collective agreement with step one of the salary range at $74, 675 and step three at $81, 981. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
