About the role aviation Security Service (AvSec) is the Government provider of aviation security in Aotearoa New Zealand, operating at our six major airports. Part of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), our role is to deliver premier aviation security, while enabling a high quality, responsive passenger experience. Part of our role is using intelligence to enable decision makers make risk-based decisions by producing analytical and investigative assessments and communicating the resulting intelligence to keep New Zealand safe and secure.

We currently have two Intelligence Analysts vacancies based within Auckland CBD and at Auckland Airport. We would love to hear from you if you work as an Intelligence Support or Junior Analyst role, wanting to move into more analytical work, or an experienced Analyst looking for a fresh challenge or change of direction. Each role will have a specific focus on either working within the Integrated Targeting Operational Centre (ITOC) or assessing intelligence on non-passengers at Auckland Airport.

The ITOC is a multi-agency approach to protecting our borders. Other agencies include NZ Customs, Immigration NZ (MBIE), NZ Police, MPI, and the Ministry of Health. The ability to receive intelligence from agencies such and Police and Customs will provide insight into current risks within our communities and internationally, allowing analysis of a wide range of information to help provide foresight into potential future risk.

AvSec also carries out a range of security functions and activities including screening airport workers, crew and their baggage. Part of this role will be ensuring airport environments and aircraft travel remains safe and secure from potential internal threats.

As an Intelligence Analyst, you will demonstrate professional curiosity, an adaptive approach to set tasks and the ability to provide insight and foresight on a range of complex problems and issues. You will use your critical thinking and team-focussed approach to support a positive and productive team culture that is focussed on service delivery excellence.

Ideally you will have the following research, analytical and evaluative skills or relevant and equivalent experience. Sound skills in producing written and visual intelligence products and delivering verbal briefings. The ability to develop relationship across a broad group of stakeholders. Ideally you will have the NZDIA (NZ Diploma in Intelligence Analysis) or have it underway or commit to it. We will support our team through this qualification.
