Our client is a kaupapa Māori service that proudly supports people of all ethnicities with an intellectual impairment around New Zealand. Providing residential and vocational services, high and complex needs support, and a wide range of community supports.

A role model practitioner, you will have long established yourself within the NZ HR community, and have provided significant contribution, development, and implementation of HR frameworks across the organisations you have been part of.  Leading the development and implementation of effective approaches to workforce planning, leadership, and management development, are the foundations of this strategic, and senior level position.

Supporting worker training and development, health and safety, employee relations, remuneration and HR business partnering, you will provide broad ranging advice and strategic performance management, and employee engagement practices.

Tasked with policy and process development, HRIS, recruitment, induction and other HR functions that support strategic direction, this is very much a position for those with HR generalist experience. Ideally your skillset will have been honed within New Zealand organisations, and you will be able to evidence your progression through the industry locally.

Leading a small team of experienced HR practitioners, you will ensure a high-performance working environment, one in which each individual is enabled and empowered, and continues to learn and grow as they provide operational advice and contribution across the organisation. The team provides effective HR advice, tools, and support to managers across the full range of HR functions at an operational level so they can confidently lead and develop their people, and a strategic level in terms of information, analysis, and planning.

Able to identify risks and trends, you will ensure appropriate systems and mechanisms are established to monitor and report, providing solutions and organisational mitigations as required. Developing and maintaining effective and sustainable relationships with the employees’ union, peers in the disability sector, and HR providers, you are adapt as managing up as well as down , and be empowered to take others on the journey with you.

A pivotal asset within the senior management team, you will contribute to the development of strategic and operational priorities, discussions, and decisions. Driving and supporting organisational change through a cultural lens, you will utilise your knowledge of Te Reo me ona tikanga Māori to drive pragmatic and effective shifts in both mind set and accountability. Experience working within a Māori framework or NGO context would be highly regarded although not essential to application.

Leading the Human Resources function and ensuring effective and efficient HR systems, resources, and frameworks, your excellent communication and influencing skills and the ability to bring a practical and common-sense approach to the role are prerequisite.

To excel in this position, you will be able to demonstrate 10 years’ + experience and qualification in Human Resources. Extensive skills across the spectrum of HR practices including workforce capability and culture, organisational design, change management, employee relations, employment resolution processes, employee engagement and remuneration.

A commitment to Te Reo me ona tikanga Māori. Extensive people leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills. Skilled in and embedding of culture change programmes of work. Proven ability to provide strategic insight and capability in organisational development and change management. Strong commercial and financial acumen, experienced in budget development, implementation, and management.

Expert understanding of current HR practice and knowledge of NZ employment legislation. The demonstrated skill as a people influencer, and relationship builder. A commitment to Tikanga Māori and Te Reo Māori. Strong problem solving and decision-making capabilities.

Tasked with ensuring capability and capacity build is further enhanced, you will expertly influence, develop, and motivate individuals and teams to maximise performance.  With the capability to take the organisation to the next level, you will lead a programme of work to explore new enterprise systems and projects with the intent to streamline work processes, procedures, and workflow to optimal levels.
