Housing Facilitator Comcare Trust location Canterbury.

Housing Facilitator, Comcare assists people with mental health or addiction issues to live well in the Canterbury community. Our Housing Service Delivery provides a range of housing-related assistance for those who are vulnerable to homelessness and housing loss, particularly those experiencing mental illness and/or addiction issues.

Our Services have been developed with the belief good housing is crucial to the maintenance of wellbeing and mental health and can be a key factor in recovery.

We are seeking a dedicated Housing Facilitator who will fulfil a unique and specialist role in assisting people who are homeless, and supporting clients to find and maintain rental housing, working with people who experience mental illness, those in recovery from addictions and those referred by the Ministry of Social Development.

To be a Housing Facilitator you will need a positive outlook and a passion to help others, the ability to make well considered decisions, good attention to detail, great communication skills, a full driver’s licence.

Experience in Tikanga Māori and culturally appropriate service delivery to Māori would be an advantage, as would experience in the social housing sector and/or mental health and addiction sector.

It is desirable that you have a Level 4 Health and Wellbeing Qualification (or similar) or are committed to studying towards one. In return Comcare provides a supportive and positive culture that is committed to the ongoing development of its workforce in an area of growing need.
