Head Curator required for leading Wildlife Parks group. They currently have three zoos/wildlife parks and are in growth. Reporting to the Director your role will be a blend of overseeing collections of animals, managing staff, handling rostering, invoicing, and purchase orders, and ensuring safety and wellbeing of animals, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities include organising of veterinary treatment for the animals and ensuring that treatments are being followed through and paperwork is being signed off on by keepers. Assist with implementing breeding recommendations. Management and development of staff. Arranging rostering of staff.

Overseeing exhibit designs to ensure they are safe, functional, and representative of the animal’s natural habitat. Accounts – arrange purchase orders, review invoices – review and make recommendations on costings. Ensure that keepers are documenting accurate records on a daily basis.

Ensure that all exhibits within the section are safe for the collection and aesthetically pleasing for Wildlife Park visitors. Assist with the review of talks and encounter and helping to develop new experiences. Assist with implementing breeding recommendations.

Encouraging and promoting a positive working environment within their team and the greater keeper team. Strong focus on work, health, and safety. Zoo curator experience. Possess a current and valid driver’s licence. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Your role is a blend of performing administrative/accounts duties, people management as well as on the grounds observing animals. The position is based in Blacktown but you will be required to travel between parks.
