About the role:

As a direct report to the Origin CPO, the Head of Procurement Services is responsible for leading a team of procurement professionals, providing strategic direction, governance, and continuous improvement across tactical and transactional activities for all procurement spend categories and Origin BUs. The role will play a crucial part in driving efficiency through streamlined procurement pathways, automated purchasing/contracting solutions, and robust contract management practices.

 

The incumbent will be accountable for implementing best-practice procurement strategies across the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements, and fostering strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers. The role demands strong leadership capabilities, deep procurement expertise, and a proactive approach to driving procurement transformation

 

Key Responsibilities

 

· Develop and implement user-centric procurement pathways and automated purchasing processes to drive business-wide self-service.

· Oversee tactical sourcing and contract management, ensuring alignment with Category Plans, business needs, and financial targets.

· Establish robust governance, manage risks, and lead first-line-of-defence assurance for procurement and contract processes.

· Monitor and control procurement costs, ensuring maximum value and transparent reporting of spend.

· Drive the adoption of digital procurement tools and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and user experience.

· Manage and develop a high-performing procurement team, fostering cultural and behavioural change.

· Act as a key business partner and trusted advisor to senior internal stakeholders, suppliers, and industry groups.

· Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE legislation and drive optimal HSE performance throughout the procurement lifecycle.

 

What will you bring?

 

You will role model Origin’s values, be self-driven, with ability to be proactive and take initiative. A team player with ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of people across levels, building positive, productive working relationships.

 

· Minimum 5-7 years in Procurement or Commercial, with 2-3 years in a leadership role (direct and/or indirect).

· Proven commercial and business acumen, understanding factors influencing outcomes, risks, and mitigants.

· Demonstrable understanding of the full procurement lifecycle and its optimisation in complex organisations.

· Skilled in negotiating large contracts and managing diverse supplier and services portfolios.

· Exceptional at building and managing relationships across all organisational levels and with external partners.

· Proven ability to foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture and achieve top-quartile team engagement.

· Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, able to define and resolve complex issues effectively.

· Degree-level qualification in Business/Commerce or an equivalent field.
