Our client our client owns and operates this unique and iconic shopping precinct in a vibrant Melbourne suburb.  The asset is renowned for its diverse range of products, offerings and unique shopping experiences. With a rich heritage spanning over a century, they are committed to not only maintaining their position as a premier destination, but developing and improving it further for both locals and visitors alike.

The opportunity they are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Finance (financial controller) to join their team and lead their finances and operations, and be 2IC to the CEO. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving the financial strategy of the asset, overseeing all aspects of financial management, providing operational support and providing strategic guidance to support their continued growth and success.

This role would suit either a seasoned operator looking for a less corporate or structured environment OR someone looking to step up to their first ‘Head of’ role. Regardless of which one you are, you will be someone who thrives in a hands-on environment where you can make a real impact!

What you’ll be doing this is not your typical finance role. This is a role where you will have involvement and oversight of all aspects of the business, and requires someone that will actively be involved in supporting the CEO to build and deliver the assets future vision.

To do this, you willdevelop and implement comprehensive financial strategies to optimize revenue, minimize costs, and enhance overall financial performance. Manage all financial planning and budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Oversee financial reporting and analysis, providing accurate and timely financial information to inform decision-making at all levels of the organization. Oversee AP & AR, and ensure regulations and compliance are adhered to lead the development of financial models to support business cases, investment decisions, and long-term planning initiatives.

Build and maintain strong relationships with the assets’ tenants, providing financial guidance and support to foster mutually beneficial partnerships. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (management team, board and owners) to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the finance function. Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, standards, and best practices.

What you will bring Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; CA or CPA qualification preferred. Proven experience in a senior finance role in a Property or Retail/Franchising background, with a track record of success in financial management and strategic planning.

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a proactive and results-driven approach to problem-solving. Experience in the retail or hospitality industry is highly desirable. You must have local experience & full working rights.
