Description

Head of Finance Queensland Ballet location Brisbane.

The Head of Finance is responsible for administering the day to day financial and accounting functions of Queensland Ballet and the Queensland Ballet Academy, including the development of financial policies, plans and strategies.

Responsibilities lead the efficient and effective delivery of financial and management accounting services for Queensland Ballet, including leading annual budgeting processes and ensuring statutory financial requirements are met.

Positively engages with internal and external stakeholders on financial matters as required, including partnering with business areas and communicating financial concepts to non-finance colleagues and managers. Prepares and files financial and operating statements, including statutory reporting.

Managing legal compliance related to finance and tax regulations. Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to the Finance Team to develop individual, team and organisational capability. Undertakes analysis and prepares performance reports for consideration by senior management and the Finance Committee.

Prepares financial reports for the Director of Finance and Operations, Finance Committee and Board, and assists in the development of financial strategy. Develops and oversees company financial and accounting policies, systems and internal controls.

Ensures effective expense management and operational compliance with all policies, standards and internal controls. Lead internal and statutory audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure accuracy of financial records. Conduct financial forecasting and scenario planning. A focus on continuous improvements to process and project related activities, as required.

Selection criteria tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce or economics and CPA or CA qualified. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and concepts, including a minimum of 7+ years of practical financial management and accounting experience.

Strong analytical skills and experience in developing strategies for the allocation and management of financial resources. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate financial and resourcing matters to internal stakeholders.

Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving ability including the ability to plan, prioritise, and meet financial deadlines, working flexibly and cooperatively as part of a team and demonstrated ability to lead, manage and inspire a diverse team of finance professionals and coach them to achieve service excellence.
