Join the team we are seeking an energetic and engaging Head of Commercial Finance to elevate business performance across both our iconic brands. As the Head of Commercial Finance, your leadership will be crucial in shaping and executing strategies across International and Domestic Supply Chain, Online Fulfillment, Technology, and Financial Reporting Visualisation. You will leverage your deep financial acumen to drive performance improvements, strategic planning, and operational excellence.
Leading a team of approximately fifteen, including five direct reports, you will be highly visible with the Executive Leadership Team and will work closely with General Managers and key stakeholders across multiple functional areas to support business performance and effective strategy implementation.
What you'll be doing as a Head of Commercial Finance working for Kmart and Target, you will partner with the business to enhance performance across key functional areas, prioritising efforts on areas that can deliver the greatest value and uplifting areas of underperformance.
Conduct financial analysis of investment options and evaluate proposals to identify key assumptions and sensitivities, including preparation of business cases for Board submission. Support key projects, track initiatives, and conduct Post Implementation Reviews (PIRs).
Identify new opportunities through strategic initiatives to enhance performance and manage the governance process for investment approvals. Develop performance reporting for different business audiences and define critical KPIs to support strategy.
Mentor and develop your team, inspiring a culture of continuous improvement and high performance. Provide thought leadership, anticipating future business needs, and act as a change agent in driving initiatives.
To Be Successful in This Role You Will have a tertiary qualification in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include an MBA, CPA/CA, or project management discipline. At least 4 years of experience in a ‘Head of' position, having led successful leaders.
Experience operating in a large-scale corporate environment is essential, with deep retail experience, ideally in areas of supply chain and technology. Excellent leadership qualities, with a proven track record of building engaging teams and coaching them for high performance.
Experience in investment decision-making and project/program management. Strong commercial acumen and a solid understanding of financial statements. Proven ability to implement business change successfully and maintain strong governance with a pragmatic approach. The capability to challenge the status quo engagingly and influence all organizational levels. Advanced analytical skills and the ability to manage and resolve complex issues.
