The Role We are seeking an experienced Head Chef for a long-term position to lead our dynamic kitchen team of four professionals. Our kitchen operates with many moving parts - from frequent menu changes to diverse function requirements - making forward-thinking planning and meticulous organisation absolutely essential. This is an exciting opportunity with a growing hospitality group that offers genuine career advancement across our expanding venue portfolio. Key Responsibilities * Lead and inspire a close-knit team of 4 kitchen professionals * Demonstrate exceptional proficiency in managing kitchen cost of goods to optimise profitability * Create efficient staff rosters that minimise labour costs while ensuring work-life balance * Design innovative seasonal menus that complement our cocktail program * Develop catering menus for our expanding off-site catering operations * Create regular event and function menus with extensive dietary accommodation * Oversee kitchen operations for extensive functions and events, including winemaker nights * Maintain consistently high food standards across all service periods * Foster positive supplier relationships and actively seek new partnerships with cost comparison analysis * Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations * Manage purchasing, stock control, and supplier relationships Essential Requirements * Minimum 3 years proven experience in a Head Chef role with high-quality restaurants * Expert-level cost of goods management with demonstrated budget success * Meticulous organisational skills with exceptional forward-planning abilities - thinking beyond day-to-day operations is imperative * High-pressure environment expertise with ability to manage multiple moving parts simultaneously * Small team management and rostering experience focused on labour cost optimisation * Function and event catering experience preferred, including off-site catering operations * Strong communication and leadership skills with ability to work collaboratively with front of house teams * Current food safety certification and knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements * Genuine passion for hospitality with a kind heart and positive attitude What We Offer * Competitive salary - negotiable based on experience * Genuine work-life balance with consistent scheduling that respects personal time * Genuine growth opportunities - real advancement potential across our expanding venue portfolio (currently 2 venues with a 3rd planned in the next 12 months) * Creative freedom in menu development and kitchen operations * Professional development opportunities and industry training * Supportive work environment with strong mentorship from our chef-owner and genuine care for all team members * Staff perks including nightly staff meals and team events Application Process Please submit your current CV, a cover letter explaining your passion for joining our team, and two professional references from previous head chef positions.
