Reporting to the Golf Course Superintendent, you will be responsible for maintaining and presenting the resort gardens in top condition to enhance the guest experience. Your key responsibilities include:
Maintain garden beds, hedges, trees and lawns
Carry out maintenance activities such as mowing, trimming, edging, planting, pruning, landscaping, weed control, irrigation maintenance, applying fertiliser and pesticide spaying
Operate gardening equipment, tools and machinery
Work collaboratively with team members and other departments
Maintain excellent customer service standards with members and guests
Maintain safe working practices
The hours of work for this role are Monday-Thursday 5.30am-2pm. The resort is open 7 days week, with the team working a 7 day rotating roster. Flexibility to work other days may be required on an ad hoc basis during busy periods or when staff are on leave.
What you’ll need to be successful
Landscape gardening experience in a 4-5 hotel/resort or similar environment
Certificate III in Horticulture, essential
Current drivers licence, essential
Chemical spraying certificate, desirable
Knowledge of commercial gardening and landscaping techniques and operations, plant varieties, planting conditions and propagation techniques
Knowledge & experience in operating gardening equipment, tools and machinery
Eye for detail and take pride in your work
Clear communication skills and work well in a team environment
Understanding of work health and safety practices
Ability to perform physical requirements of manual labour & heavy lifting
Excellent presentation
