General Manager. Pivotal role with a growing innovative humate fertiliser business based on scientific results. Well known brands for soil health and animal health. Products sold nationwide.

This is a role where you will be responsible for all aspects of the business including sales, production and the delivery of humate product sales for agriculture, horticulture, viticulture and the home gardener.

We are seeking a dynamic General Manager, experienced in driving business growth to meet the  conventional and emerging regenerative farming sector, improving production efficiencies and building a highly productive team.

Southern Humates is based in Southland with the organic certified humate site situated at Waituna and the production facility based at Makarewa. We are looking for strong leadership and a well organised General Manager with an understanding of biological fertilisers to build on the extensive research undertaken to date to maximise the potential of humates for soil health and animal health.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for all aspects of the business. Your role will include sales, production and the delivery of valued products to famers, horticulture and retail garden outlets, as well as managing and growing the Southern Humates team.  We are looking for someone who thrives on the challenge of identifying opportunities for growth into this growing sector whilst maintaining high quality standards to comply with the industry.

Key responsibilities driving Business Development, especially to the farming sector including, horticulture and viticulture. Establish sales, production and logistic processes to ensure optimum revenue and cost outcomes.

Lead and collaborate on business functions associated with the company’s products. Develop and implement sales and marketing programs. Report on key business performance metrics. Establish and maintain quality control standards. Identify opportunities for sales growth. Implement health and safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment. Develop a highly productive team. Positively represent the company in any interactions with the public.

Qualifications proven management experience in agribusiness sales and understanding of production environment. Strong knowledge and understanding of biological fertiliser and soil management. Experience in leadership and team management skills. Strong problem- solving skills with the ability to drive continuous improvement.

Proficiency in using customer relationship software. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and quality control standards. Effective communications and interpersonal skills. A Degree in Agriculture would be an advantage. A competitive salary is offered to the successful applicant.
