About the role
As the Ganger Class 2, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Network Development Asset Maintenance Group.
You will support the Ganger Class 3 to supervise the performance of various specialised track maintenance functions. This position is responsible for providing staff a safe workplace where risks are identified, understood and managed and a safe environment for customers and visitors is maintained.
Key accountabilities include:
Supporting the Ganger Class 3 when needed with leading and overseeing the delivery of rail infrastructure renewal and maintenance activities, including the upkeep of rail reserves, road surfaces at crossings, pedestrian pathways, and associated infrastructure.
Supporting supervising and actively participating in the replacement and renewal of track components such as sleepers, rails, ballast, and fastening systems.
Coordinating and contributing to the maintenance and repair of road and foot crossings, drainage systems, earthworks, and associated buildings or structures.
Ensuring the effective maintenance and operational integrity of an assigned section of track, maintaining high standards of safety and reliability.
Conducting regular inspections and monitoring of track conditions, including geometry, sleeper and fastening integrity, rail wear and creep, flooding, joint condition, and potential buckling. Implement timely corrective actions to ensure infrastructure safety and compliance.
Responding promptly and effectively to Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) concerns raised by internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a safe working environment.
About you
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
Current Driver’s Licence
Cert 3 Rail Infrastructure
Safe Working Certificate Level 3
High Rail operator (level 4) highly desirable
